Customer Profile

Solid Cement Corporation (SCC) is one of two cement plants owned and operated by CEMEX Philippines. It manufactures various brands of premium grade cement.

Application

SCC uses vibrating screens that operate 24 hours a day in the packhouse.

Challenge

The bearings in the vibrating screens experienced frequent lubricant evacuation due to the high impact and high temperature readings generated by the continuous, 24-hour-a-day vibration of the equipment.

LE Solution

For this application, LE Philippines recommended Almagard Vari-Purpose Lubricant (3752). It is an extreme pressure lubricant, for extended service, that won’t wash off, pound out, or melt and run, even with extended service in severe conditions. Almagard Vari-Purpose Lubricants is a heavy duty, multifunctional grease designed for exceptional mechanical stability, excellent extreme pressure and high temperature capabilities. It is ideally suited for general use in industrial plants and perfectly suited to meet the demanding needs of all mobile equipment. Almagard Vari-Purpose Lubricant contains two LE exclusive additives: Almasol® wear-reducing additive and Quinplex®, which contributes to outstanding water resistance, tackiness and enhanced mechanical stability. Quinplex helps to form a barrier against corrosion and ensures thorough coupling of oil with the grease base.

Results

The bearings are now running 60-63˚C, which is 28-30˚C cooler than before the switch to Almagard. Amperage reduction has also been achieved due to lower temperature readings. Mechanic Mario Gabisan Jr. commented on how good Almagard was because it clings better on the bearings and does not melt, whereas the previous grease (Shell Retinax® LX) frequently melted and ran out of the bearings.
