Now made in Germany by R+L Hydraulics: Quick Flex elastomeric couplings for harsh environments

US power transmission specialist Lovejoy Inc. has further expanded its European presence and now also manufactures elastomeric couplings of the Quick Flex series in Werdohl, Germany. The durable couplings are designed to face the challenges of harsh environments, yet need minimal maintenance. They are easy to install and require no lubrication. The Quick Flex series is offered in multiple cover and insert configurations. The couplings are ideal for motor to gearbox, gearbox to driven equipment, and motors to pumps, as well as for any drive shaft to driven shaft application. Typical industries include steel mills, food processing, pulp and paper, mining, as well as oil and gas.

Overview of the Quick Flex product family

For especially harsh environments a stainless-steel version of each coupling is offered. Designers and users can choose from multiple cover and insert configurations that are able to withstand some of the most extreme environments. Solid and split covers are designed to accommodate higher speeds and increased torque. The couplings are inherently balanced from precision machining for high-speed applications. Their design dampens torsional vibration and shock to help extend life of the coupling and surrounding components. Quick Flex couplings operate without any metal-to-metal contact. Because the metal hubs don’t wear, the elastomeric insert is the only spare part needed. The inserts help reduce downtime and replacement costs because inserts can be exchanged without moving or disassembling the driving or driven equipment.

Quick Flex coupling with spacerbody and high performance cover

Quick Flex couplings are available in twelve product families ranging from bore sizes of 10 mm to 280 mm. They are designed for continuous torque levels from 43 Nm to 188.8 kNm and peak torque levels from 85 Nm to 377.5 kNm. The couplings can accommodate shaft misalignment up to 2 degrees. Split cover options help resist axial separating force under high torque. Standard and double-ended spacer couplings are available for shaft separations of 25 mm to 3000 mm. Four insert choices are offered for varying torque needs and temperature ranges up to 177° C. The couplings are made with four bore options: bored, keyed and set screws style with clearance and interference fit, bushing style, splined style, and mill motor style.

In addition to the new Quick Flex coupling series, R+L Hydraulics develops, engineers and produces a broad range of components for fluid and power transmission technologies, including industrial couplings and hydraulic accessories such as test couplings, jaw couplings, bell housings and cooler bell housings, damping elements, aluminium tanks, heat exchangers and coolers. The products are used in a wide range of applications in machine building, shipbuilding and automotive, energy and environmental technology, in the steel and offshore industries and plant engineering.
