Record order intake and revenues

Mats Rahmström, President and CEO of the Atlas Copco Group, comments on the report for Q2 that was released today.

“Last year the second quarter was heavily impacted by the pandemic and in comparison, the customer demand and the Group’s order intake increased significantly”, said Mats Rahmström. “But also compared with the previous quarter the order intake grew to an all-time record level”.

The order growth compared with last quarter was primarily driven by increased order volumes for industrial compressors, industrial and scientific vacuum equipment, and the service businesses. Compared with previous year, strong order growth was achieved in all business areas in all regions, and for all types of equipment and service.

Orders received in the second quarter grew to record MSEK 32 529 (22 401), an organic growth of 54%. Revenues increased 14% to record MSEK 27 534 (24 102), an organic growth of 21%. Operating profit increased 52% to MSEK 5 924 (3 889), corresponding to a margin of 21.5% (16.1). Adjusted operating profit, excluding items affecting comparability, was MSEK 6 026 (4 476), corresponding to a margin of 21.9% (18.6). Return on capital employed was unchanged at 26% (26).

We are dedicated to being present in the right segments, with the right products and services, presented by the right people”, said Mats Rahmström. “This commitment is how we continue to increase the value we bring to our customers and other stakeholders”.

Looking ahead, in the near-term, Atlas Copco expects that the customers’ business activity level will remain at the high current level.
